Tracks of the Khmer Tour

This new road tour takes us to the largely untapped southeast of Thailand, on the border with Cambodia. Our motorcycle safari follows in the footsteps of the Khmer, and we will take you to National Parks, waterfalls and temples.

Day 1 Arrive Pattaya. On arrival in Bangkok we will transfer you the 90 minutes to our hotel in Pattaya .Depending on arrival time there will be time for sightseeing, shopping or relaxing by the pool.  This evening we will have our welcome dinner in one of the restaurants close to the hotel.

Day 2 Pattaya – Krong Poipet. After breakfast we collect our bikes leave the city behind and head out into the countryside. We will cross the Khao Soi Dao National Park, keeping your eye out for the local wildlife. On arrival in Poipet there will be an opportunity to visit the biggest border market in Thailand or you can just relax by the pool.

Day 3 Krong Poipet - Surin. We ride along the border with Cambodia today and visit the spectacular temple Prasat Sadok Kok Thom which was built in the Angkor period. This Temple is difficult to find and we are unlikely to see other tourists here.  We then take a varied track to Surin, and our beautiful resort hotel where we can spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool.

Day 4 Surin – Phimai. After breakfast we will head north to the Elephant Village Ban Ta Klang, the biggest in the world. With a population of 1400 people and 190 of these gentle giants, they are free to walk in the woods or cool off in the sea.  We will see how the Elephants are trained and watch the mahouts washing them. There will also be an opportunity for you to ride an Elephant. We will then continue our ride to Phimai. Our hotel is in the Phimai Historical Park in the centre.THAI - Khmer 1

Day 5 Phimai-Khao Yai. This morning we will visit the temple area of Phimai which was built in the 11th century. Through the time of Angkor in Cambodia it played an important part as a religious centre.  We will also try and pay a visit to the holy Baryan Tree.This huge old tree is 350 years old and is surrounded by water.from the river Mun. We then head for the Khao yai National Park and arrive at our hotel this afternoon.

Day 6 Khao Yai –Sakaeo. Today we will ride into the Khao Yai National Park. It was the first national park in Thailand and was established in 1962.  The park is home to wild elephants, tigers, leopards bears, monkeys crocodiles and Spectacular waterfalls. The most famous is Haew Suwat featured in the film The Beach. Our ride continues to Sakaeo and our hotel for a cold beer by the pool.THAI - Khmer 2

Day 7 Sakaeo – Koh Chang Our ride today takes us to a very special Buddhist temple, “Khao Chakan”, situated on a 240m high limestone mountain, then we ride great roads through lovely countryside to the dream island of Koh Chang still relatively undiscovered by tourists.  It is Thailand’s third largest island.

Day 8 Koh Chang. This morning we could head out on a fishing boat to explore the surrounding islands or go swimming in the little lake at the bottom of the Klong Phu waterfall situated in the middle of the jungle! Alternatively just enjoy the wonderful beaches of Koh Chang.

Day 9 Koh Chang-Pattaya. Our last ride today, and on the way back to Pattaya we will visit the Suhattra Land, a huge fruit farm where you can enjoy eating a variety of tropical fruits. On arrival in Pattaya we hand back our trusty steeds and enjoy our last night.

Day 10 Departure. We will transfer you back to Bangkok for your flight home, until the next time!
