Itinerary

THAI - Sun 1Day 1 Arrive Chiang Mai. We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to our downtown hotel and depending on your arrival time you will have time to relax and explore the city before our Welcome dinner in the evening and a visit to the famous night bazaar..

Day 2 Chiang Mai – Mae Cham   After picking up our bikes we head out into the mountains towards the south-west of Chiang Mai.  Our first stop will be an elephant camp on the river, we then visit a tribal village before lunch, at a roadside restaurant in the Doi Inthanon National Park. This afternoon we will continue our winding journey to the top of Doi Inthanon, Thailands highest mountain at 2565 metres. On a clear day the view is spectacular and we spend time around the two visible modern chedi, which were built to honour the King and Queen on their 60th birthdays. We now head back down the mountain descending about 2000m in less than 30km on a steep winding road to our overnight stop in Mae Cham.

Day 3 Mae Cham - Mae Hong Son - Pai  After breakfast we get back on our bikes for a day of pure riding pleasure. We will pay a visit to the largest stalactite cave in south-east Asia, before reaching Pai in the late afternoon. After checking into our bungalows there will be time to explore the town.THAI - Sun 2

Day 4 Pai - Thaton  Today we continue our breathtaking route through the mountains of northern Thailand, the next 100km has more than 750 curves.  From Chiang Dao we continue along small roads high up in the mountains along the border with Myanmar to the mountain of Doi Ankang. Here we visit a royal project where exotic fruit and vegetables are grown.  A steep decent down to the small town of Thaton brings us to our overnight stop.

Day 5 Thaton – Chiang Rai  Today we ride very curvy, small paved roads and always along the Myanmar border. We will pay a visit to the famous Doi Mae Salong. Established in 1962 by Kuomintang Chinese the village is now known as Santikharee, it is strange to see Chinese style in the hills of northern Thailand.  And the local market is dominated by Chinese products. We continue our ride to Mae Sai on the border with Myanmar. Here we can cross the bridge on foot into Myanmar for a visit to a local market.  We then get back on our bikes and another half hours ride brings us to the GoldenTriangle formerly a notorious area for the production of Opium. A speedboat ride on the Mekong river takes us to a small island that belongs to Laos and a visit to a local market.THAI - Sun 3 And our final leg of the ride takes us on a good road to Chiang Rai.

Day 6 Chiang Rai  Free Day. Morning at leisure and then in the afternoon there is the opportunity to visit the famous white temple and possibly Singha Park.  Overnight, Chiang Rai.

Day 7 Chiang Rai – Nan  Today we will ride one of the top 10 motorcycle roads in the world with great mountain views and little traffic. Our overnight stop is Nan a town that has changed very little in the last 20 years.

THAI - Sun 4Day 8 Nan – Chiang Do  Another terrific riding day and we will stay in a beautiful resort at the foot of the third highest mountain in Thailand. Before dinner enjoy a bath in the local hot springs.

Day 9 Chiang Do –Chiang Mai  After breakfast we pay a visit to an elephant training camp. You will be able to watch them being bathed and see a demonstration of how they were trained when they were used as workhorses. You will also have the opportunity to ride on one should you wish, We will arrive in Chiang Mai early afternoon. Relax by the pool this afternoon and get ready for our farewell dinner this evening in one of the many local restaurants.

Day 10 Chiang Mai-Departure  Time to say farewell. We will take you back to the airport in time for your flight home.  With great memories of this beautiful country. Until the next time.
